Our History

Five Generations
Family Owned & Operated

Our farm was homesteaded by our great great grandparents back in 1893. We are the 5th generation to work this land and we are so grateful for that. Our very ambitious grandparents, Don & Kathy Scharlau, got a crazy idea back in the 1970’s that we needed to farm something new.
Enter, Christmas trees. They started Pleasant Valley by planting just a couple acres and now are up to hundreds of acres! While, they were managing their farm and a couple of their other businesses, our grandparents felt the desire to try something new again.
They opened their fall harvest festival in the late 90’s and enjoyed bringing a new agritourism destination to the Chippewa Valley. Now many years later it continues to be a family run farm, with their son, Daniel, and his family owning and operating Pleasant Valley.
A little bit of country is good for your soul. Welcome to our farm!
